Let me first say I don’t like going to dentist or the doctor. So I usually put it off, till I have to most certainly have to go. I am currently uninsured and my insurance doesn’t start till Dec 1st. I woke up with tooth pain earlier this week and thought to myself Tiffany you can wait till December, just suck it up for two more weeks. Because I’m uninsured. I held off the dentist for two days and couldn’t take the pain anymore, so I started looking for an affordable dentist and I came across NYU college of dentistry. I was hesitant about going there because of all the bad reviews but it looked like the only affordable place to go near me. So I went at 9:30am, registered and saw a student dentist. His name was Jordan, he was super helpful and nice. This was in urgent care and he told me I had an infection because of my wisdom tooth and had to remove it. I had this problem before so I knew he was right. He told me we will try to remove it today. In my head I was like wow, that’s super fast and helpful. So I paid $75 to see doctor and $80 for X-ray. Which I think is super affordable compared to other places I saw online. Around 4pm that day I got my tooth pulled by a dentist, not a student because it was infected and a serious case. He pulled my tooth out in less then five minutes and I was his seventh person of the day. He was very gentle and informative. Granted I did had to wait till 4pm but my tooth was pulled the same day. The time in between I went and got lunch. I only paid $200 to pull the tooth. They do make you pay up front for everything, so be prepared for that. The front desk staff and students/dentist were all nice and I would go there again.
Horrible terrible place the workers are rude and disrespectful. They pretend to care but after the tilt head and fake smile they still haven’t the slightest empathy to care about what you have said. If you are sick and have emotional illness they don’t care if you can’t sis or stand for long periods of time, again they don’t care. I had a few choices words and expressed them as they should always be addressed. Went through the proper channels and still got they tilted head along with the I really don’t care fake smile. I got a call today explaining how I was rude like are you really kidding me. Grow up accept your responsibilities to the public that pay your check. Get your act together. I waited over 3 hours one day being told to come back and they will see me at 6 only after I noticed most of the staff were leaving or had already disappeared no one made any announcement explaining that the staff goes on breaks and return later on. I was told I will be seen at six by one person then when I over heard the next receptionist saying to another patient they will be opening back up at 6pm so I walked over to her cause she seemed more polite than the other woman. She said we only open back up at six there is no guarantee that you will be seen. So I had that what you talkin bout Willis look. She said come back early the next day and guarantee you wil be seen I The morning. I said great I will be here bright and early so I was. They next day I arrive early 8:25am I waited until 2:30 pm to be seen reaching out to higher up at this facility giving me the run around every time. Not a great place at all to go to place stay away.
It's really hit or miss. Being a patient there you might get an incompetent student who might mess up your teeth. In my case he was incompetent, didn't do a good work, but was good at hiding it from the teachers and got away with it.
Intake is pretty cold and unapproachable. The students are for the most part pretty nice as they want to do well. It takes a long time for visits and the discount is not that great considering people going are uninsured and giving the people training opportunities. I would go there only if I HAVE to.
Best ever . I’ve been to many Dentist and none treat you like this. Everyone is respectful and the place is very clean. You have all retired specialists here helping the students. Amazing place.
