My FAVORITE place in Central Park is the Gapstow Bridge. It is GORGEOUS! I took many pictures of the Bridge & views. On 12/17 it snowed & that was amazing. A family built a snowman near the bridge.
Beautiful place. Great for pictures. Usually crowded
I just spent 10 incredible December days in NYC. I didn't want to fly home! I walked for up to 2 hours in Central Park every day of my trip & it was my #1 favorite place in NYC. The dogs are allowed to run loose & play in the early mornings which was so fun to watch. I felt 100% safe in the park at all times.
Difficult not to give this bridge 5 stars. Neither I, nor the countless number of people I personally know who have tried crossing (yes in both directions) have ever fallen in the water. You start on one side, cross the water, and if you like you can even go back to your original side. Bridges are a great way to cross water without having to take a detour, swim or attempt a really tricky jump, and this bridge is no exception.
My daughter bought me a puzzle last week of all places - the Gapstow Bridge! We completed the frame last night.
Definitely put Central Park & Gapstow Bridge on your list of things to see in NYC followed closely by 9/11 Memorial & Museurm & Top of the Rock (360 view of NYC).
Best place in central park to take a classic picture.
Free fun! The kids especially enjoyed the various rock formations around this part of the park that allowed them to climb and expend extra energy while we (parents) could relax.
