This place is alright, but needs some work.
4. After finally getting my computer back from service, the exhaust fan is rattling and buzzing, sometimes extremely loudly. I can't afford to bring it back in and leave it for another 10-14 days, nor do I really feel like dealing with this place anymore. I can't speak to the relative value of the service, because I don't have a real point of reference, but I know that I paid way to much to get it back with a major defect like this.
3. On the phone, I'm told the very specific service I'm requesting on my laptop will only take 4-7 days. Once I'm in the store (on the same day), with the computer now handed over, it's suddenly 10-14. Huge difference and significant inconvenience. Please communicate better.
Called to see if they would do an out of warranty repair for an old MacAir needing a new hinge. Was told that if I could find the parts, they could do the repair for $150. I brought the laptop and the parts in, waited 30 minutes to speak with someone and then I'm told they won't fix it. Sorry, you were misinformed. It's not an apple part. It would require the whole display to be replaced. Why would I want to fix an old laptop anyway? I hadn't come into Mike's Tech Shop to be judged, I came in for a inexpensive repair of an old laptop which I was specifically told that they could perform. Communication issues are one thing, but the condescending attitude I could do without. Going elsewhere for your apple repairs is the only thing I can recommend.
Very nice but do not honor appointment times
The place gets two stars, because their space is pretty clean and organized, and also because their guy Anthony is solid. He's kind, chill, and was very patient answering my many questions. He should be running the place, or at least be promoted. The rest of the business needs to step it up.
Friendly staff. Able to answer questions. These guys don't do repairs in house. They send them out to the Apple store.
What has taken me months of sleuthing on my own (Batch Permissions), and a few visits to the Apple Store, took James’ enthusiastic superbrain to fix in less than 5 minutes. James proceeded to spend another 5 minutes to teach me how he did it, so I’d be able to solve it on my own! JUST NO WAY JAMES YOU’RE AWESOME! He told me to tell everyone about Mike’s so here I am. MIKE’S SAVED MY COMPUTER HALLELUIA! GO TO MIKES! ask for James, and Rubin, and Andrew. They were all very helpful! :D
2. You won't let me use the bathroom?? First I'm standing around forever after "signing in" like an idiot, then you'll take hundreds or thousands of my dollars in exchange for products and services, but I can't be treated like an adult and trusted to use a toilet?
1. Don't bother with their "sign-in" system. I came in three times in three weeks, and two of those three times, my sign-in was completely ignored, Customers came in after me and just walked up and started talking to employees, and the employees engaged and didn't bother checking the queue. They seem to mostly ignore it.
